B3237* Series FilterCaps MKD AC Film Capacitors

EPCOS / TDK B3237x FilterCaps MKD AC Film Capacitors offer a 200 to 1000VRMS voltage range, a 2475VDC maximum voltage rating, and a ±5% tolerance. The B3237x series is available in both single- and three-phase options and is constructed with MPP Dielectron, non-PCB/soft polyurethane resin filling, an overpressure disconnector, self-healing technology, and a stud bottom mount. EPCOS / TDK B3237x FilterCaps MKD AC Film Capacitors are for use in general-purpose applications.

B82116B, B82116S and B82622S : Extended Range of Power Line Chokes

TDK has extended its range of EPCOS power line chokes to include six new types. The new components are available in three different core shapes with different rated currents and inductance values, delivering great design flexibility. The B82116B rod core chokes cover rated currents of 10 A, 21 A and 25 A and offer inductance values of 1.8 μH, 3.3 μH and 3.4 μH. Both B82116S mushroom core chokes feature a current capability of 25 A and are available with inductances of 2.9 μH and 3.1 μH. The new range is completed with a ring core choke (B82622S) with two windings, which is designed for a current of 30 A and has an inductance of 2.1 μH.

Depending on the type, the maximum permissible operating temperatures are between 85 °C and 140°C. The RoHS-compatible chokes use class 200 insulated wire and are UL-listed in accordance with EN 60317-13. All components are qualified to AEC-Q200.

The main applications for the new chokes include industrial and automotive motors and motor controllers.

TDK Ferrite Magnetic Design Tool

TDK Ferrite Magnetic Design Tool

The MDT software allows application-related parameters to be calculated for all available EPCOS ferrite cores and / or materials. It provides access to their digitized material data including their graphical representations. The user manual of the software contains a detailed description of all functions. The tool can be used as online version, tested in browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera, or as download, developed for Windows 7 and 10. The online version does not offer the same comprehensive set of functions as the desktop version.

The ferrite material list was updated according to the EPCOS Data Book 2017 “Ferrites and Accessories”. The new high frequency material PC200 was added.

Among the features of the current MDT version are:

  • Simulations based on user-defined core parameters
  • Database expanded to include Steinmetz coefficients for power losses
  • Display of complex permeability and impedance as a function of frequency
  • Display of impedance Z as the relation between core impedance and frequency
  • Transmittable power adjusted for skin and proximity effects (from the wire calculation menu)
  • Calculation of the distortion factor (third harmonic) under specific circuit conditions at various temperatures
  • Calculation of core loss as a function of signal form
  • Specification of wire thickness as per American Wire Gauge (AWG)

B32354S3 Series : Rugged AC filter capacitors with UL 810 approval

The capacitors of the B32354S3 series are designed for a rated voltage of 350 V AC and are available with capacitance values of 10 µF to 40 µF. The lead spacing is 52.5 mm. Because of the segmented film structure, the new capacitors conform to the highest safety class of UL 810 at Component Level.
